motor question? funny sounds.
a few days ago, i was driving. N decided to downshift hard to second gear. It grabed pretty hard
. I have an action 6 puck clutch. Its a dx hb with a 1.8 vtec. So imo it grabs pretty hard. That night i started to hear a funny noise. The noise only came on somtimes whenever i accelerate. Its been 2 days ever since. The noise i can notice. Im not sure what it is? A friend of mine told me it could be my engine mounts. i have no clue what it is? all i know is that its geting me paranoid. With my lucky lately it could be. Anyone know what esle could it be? the noise only came up when i downshifted that one day. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

describe the sound.. is it a clicking.. bumping.. or what? When does it happen.. like when you gas it or when you are staying at a certain speed.. or when you steer a certain way.. we need info here!
well i cant really describe the sound. i know its not my axles. cuz ive already broken a few axles. it only happens when i gas it at low rpms becuz i have other sounds that exists. (ie: i have a bad cat converter) it doesnt makke any sound when im steering. im kinda guessing its my motor mounts. it only happens when im gassing it a bit. it kinda sounds likk when you put your car in reverse and drive backwards, but not as loud as it. a little ringing or rattling. i could be wrong about teh sound. its as best as i can describe.

Well usually a clutch problem is slipping, your revs increase but you don't go anywhere. A clutch that's on it's last legs generally smells bad too, but you're using a 6 puck action clutch...kevlar I assume?

please explain more about the bearing? i know cars to a certain extent. how would i have done this? a friend of mine was in the car with me at the time and he said the car jerked hard
does it only make the noise while in second gear, or in any gear? did u grind it into gear? u say its whining? if so then i also think it could be the bearing(s) inside the tranny. sounds like u really beat rag ur car alot. what else have u managed to break in the past(besides the drive axles)? anyways i agree with the above post and that it more than likely is the bearing(s).

either your mounts or your bearing(s) of your tranny...i did a small search and its possible that it would be the bearing or mounts(most likely)..gimme a call.
it makks the noise in any gear. it just depends on how loud my car gets. i know the tranny grabs hard. well ive broken the axles with a different motor. how much is it to get bearings replaced?
well if it is the mounts. u can find them at discount auto parts from about $50 to $80. i still think its the bearings though and u can get those from discount for about $8 to $30+. if u have a jack u can probly get the mount in urself and hope thats the problem. u should bring it to a mechanic, tell him whats the matter and what u did and he'll do the work and buy the parts for u but it'll cost ya probly a lil over $300. the replacing of the bearings usually isnt an easy job and it takes a while. oh yea and if u do go to a mechanic let him know before hand which motor u have to save him some time....good luck
try leaving it in gear and just punch the gas a couple times...if you feel a bump/hear the sound..it is probably your motor mounts.
also try opening your hood, and then rev up ur engine and see how much ur motor moves..
