Moroso Oil Pan Efficientcy
Im looking into getting a moroso oil pan because mine currently has a leaky drain plug and i like their turbo drain line better. Ive found 2 different ones, one that holds 4 qts of oil and another that holds 5. Would the 5 qt pan be worth the extra $100 or so? Im talking for like oil temp wise. Or should I stick with the 4 qt capacity?

Why not get a good used OEM pan? Unless you road race, autocross, or drag it's not worth the high dollar it cost for a daily driver. Also if want a turob drain line, why not have a shop weld in a bung for you on the used pan. Save you a lot of money.

i do drag my car at the track but its not a full drag car. Right now my drain line isn't an AN fitting, its just a normal nipple w/ a 3/4" water hose attached to it. Will the pan provide any extra oil cooling?

If you want extra oil cooling get a engine oil cooler. That pan is designed to prevent sloshing of the oil in hard turns or acceleration or deceleration.

The more oil the cooler, plus its aluminum so yes it has advantage over a stocker. It also has a flapper to keep oil in the sump to keep pressure at all times so your oil pump never starves. Again its a real nice pan and one Ill be getting soon enough.
This is just a thought, but wouldn't it be easy to bust a hole in it if you were to bottom out (being aluminum)? I know I've bottomed out many times unexpectedly and my oil pan took the beating for it, badly. I would think twice, just because it's made out of aluminum, but that's just me. It's basically just a bling accesorry if your just for your daily driver.
yeah, alphaqup brings up a good point. if you are going to daily drive it, the steel pan will hold up much better than the aluminum one. plus, the 5.5 quart aluminum pan has a kicked out sump. that means more area for things to go wrong underneath should you catch on something. maybe fab up a 1/8" skid plate and tack it on?
and for oil cooling, try some heat wrap for your exhaust and gold foil for your oil pan. keeps the turbo heat out.
