More LS Vtec questions
Let me see here. First things first. Im using a GSR oil pump. On the LS motor between the timing belt gear and the crank(right by the oil pump) there is a washer or some type of spacer between there. Well my b16 motor doesent have these on it. Should I re-install it on the new motor or not. Also the LS one had anonther spacer between the crank pulley and the timing belt gear. Should I reinstall this one or what?
Now on to my next question. Which crank pulley do i use. I have one for a LS motor and I have one for a B16. My guess would be to use the LS one since Im using the LS crank. But the B16 one feels a bit lighter than the LS one. Which one do I need.
I was under the impression that I needed a B16 timing belt for my motor. its a Ls-Vtec motor running a gsr oil pump, b16 water pump, and b16 head. The B16 belt seems to be a bit short. Let me try to explain to you the way I ran it. Starting at the oil pump one side goes up and around the tensioner then it goes up and around the water pump then straight up to the cam gear the other side comes off the oil pump and straight to the cam gear. i know this is long and I apoligize for that, but I need some help.

All of these are easily answered by some searching but here are some suggestions anyways.....
You need to use a B18 belt from a GSR or a LS using these conciderations.
1. if using a Vtec water pump you have to use a GSR timing belt
2. if using a non-Vtec water pump (LS or CRV) you must use the LS/CRV timing belt.
Your B16A timing belt won't fit correctly becasue the deck heights of the B16A and B18 blocks are different.
Which vibration damper to use is a relative question. Personally I would opt for the LS damper because of the increased weight. That weight in return will have better vibration dampening characteristics on the LS bottom end. I'd use the LS crank pulley/damper
About the washers I figure you are talking about the timing belt guide washers. Every B series engine I have run into uses two of these. One on the backside of the timing belt gear and one on the front side of the gear. These help the timing belt remain in position. I'm pretty sure omitting these is not the best idea.
Is this helpful? Good luck on your LSVT

ok thanks a lot. if it werent for honda-tech this rebuild would never get done. Im guessing any timing belt off of a 94+ GSR will do the trick. Thanks Guys
