Default Moates Ostrich & Crome

I recenetly bought the tuner package#1 from xenocron.com Installed the socket chip everything like i was suppose to. Now i came across the dellima of burning the chip, I got the moates Ostrich emulator, I cant really figure out exactly how to use it, i can only find out how to use moates burn1. Anyone use the emulator and have msn that could tell me how they did it? or any help at all, because i cant find useful info. thanks

What are you having problems with? Configuring the ports?

Did you load the Ostrich drivers? And yes, you'll have 2 USB cables connected to your laptop now; one from the Ostrich, and one from the "socketed" part of the ECU (for datalogging).

load the drivers from moates.net.
goto your control panel and find the ostrich and set to com3 or com4 set the baud rate to 19200
Goto crome settings and select RTP tab and select same com port and baud rate 19200
Click on test connection if it connects open a P30 rom. Goto plugins add RTP+DL and disable checksum.
Then on right top you'll find a ROM picture click on it and it should create a new column with get, put, RTP etc...
When you get it going select put and if you want to make any changes on the fly click on the real time button.
Should be good to go

Above post if your using the RTP board using the dallas chip it doesn't work at this time!!! John said it will work with the next release.

Are you looking in the right place?

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Ports (COM)

If the ostrich is plugged into your laptop's USB port, and the moates driver is installed, it should show up in the "Ports (COM)" list.

I always start the computer with ostrich unplugged and open control panel. Then plug the ostrich in. It will collapse then expand the com ports letting you know its connected. The double click on the new com (ostrich) then goto advanced properties and select COM3 or 4. It may say com being used by another, just ok it.

And for the record when i start crome is throws out error 3. and does my car have to be on accessories or on to connect tot he ecu or anything or can i tune it while the cars off cuz i gotta decrease fuel by tons.

hahaha vista.

This info is taken from PGMFI.org courtsey of THE-ONE:

You have to take OWNERSHIP of the CROME.EXE file under properties.

HERE IS HOW!!!!!!!!!

Find the CROME.EXE file in the CROME directory and right-click on it and press PROPERTIES.Then you will see a group of tabs click on COMPATIBILITY check the "Run this program as an administrator" now go back to the group of tabs and click on SECURITY. Now you will see "GROUP or USER NAMES" click on EDIT. Now click on ADMINISTRATOR and look down were it says "PERMISSIONS FOR ADMINISTRATORS" click on all the boxes under allow, all of them should have "CHECKS" except special permissions click "OK". Now in the same window for the "SECURITY" tab click on "ADVANCED". Now you will see a tab called " OWNER" click on it.
Now click on "EDIT" and you will see ADMINISTRATOR click on it and click on "APPLY" and then press "OK" on all open windows.

This is the only way I got Crome to work with Vista. Datalogging and Ostrich works perfect with no issues I personally think Crome runs smoother now running Vista but that is just a personal thought you might hate it anyway I hope this will help someone and please don't Flame me for trying to help someone else might have a better way of doing this it was the only way I know how to get it running. If this works for you please try sharing the info with others.

Also is their a way to control the fuel at different throttle %"S or rpms? Can i also tune the car while its running or in the second click of the ignition? Because whatever it ry to do doesnt really seem to do anything, plz help.

after you toggle the rom button at the top when it adds the new buttons you have to click on real time adjustment button. Then it will work. You can't adjust by TPS/RPM you can only adjust by map pressure/RPM.

Are you sure your getting a CEL?? If you jump the connector Key on it will stay on once you unjump it the CEL light will go off then your fine. If the CEL comes on and doesn't flash there is something wrong with either the ECU or the base map in the ECU.
