mil-spec harness, distributor????
Ok i posted something like this a little while back. this is a little more specific. I just finished my mil-spec harness, and now my car wont start. I did not use any special wire for the distributor wires, the ones that were shielded i left inside the car, and i just extended the wires on the outside of the car(engine bay side). as soon as i turn the key on i get a solid check engine light, and the care will not start. if you have any information as to why, and what to do to fix the problem please let me know. anyone else have the same issues???? if it is as simple as using shielded wire for the distributor i will do that i just dont want to tear the harness apart more than once. pleas any help would be appreciated. Thanks again in advance!!!!!

first of all, props on making your own harness. they're eyeball-gougingly pull your hair outicly easy. if you've done one, you know... you know all too well lol.
so ok, is it possible that any of the shielding is contacting your leads? solid cel... does it turn over at all? I've ran unshielded wire on distribuor leads before, it missed a LOT, especially under load. It wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it did start up reliably. I managed to get to work that week on it while I waited for some more shielded stuff to come in the mail.
visually inspect your connections as well as you can, check that all of your colors match up on both ends, with some diagrams and a multimeter with a continuity toner on it. I would think that the solid cel is with your connections, rather than the distributor leads being left unshielded; the car wold at least REALLY want to start or start briefly.
Good luck; and Godspeed.

lol yeah this the second one i made thought the same thing so i redid it again and this is the same problem it had before. I know the car runs i actually used this harness b4 i cut it up to make sure it ran. however. i did not have access to a wire crimper, so i asked my brother inlaw who works with these connectors every day, to crimp the 55 ends to 6" pieces of 22awg wire. then i would just solder my ends to them. could that be the problem?? i will just cut the heat shrinking back and check all connectors i guess, you u r thinking i might have a shor somewhere in the harness???? I did heatshrink every place that i soldered. Yeah i thought it would be as simple as cutting the wire and pin the connector boy was i wrong!!!!!!!

does your main relay under the dash click? does your fuel pump prime? and does your starter turn over? is there any way you can post pics of your setup?
heres the pictures. and got an update. i checked all the gounds and the only thing that is not grounded is the green and white main sensor wire, not sure why that is not grounded, but time to quadruple check connections. enjoy the pics.
Check the that the ecu is getting power and ground...The shielded wires wont stop the car from starting, it might make it run like crap tough, since you will be getting interfance in the ecu now.
