MIL Spec connectors, anyone?
I'm trying to find out a little more about these connectors. I have searched everywhere to try to learn more about them, but haven't had any luck. I know a bunch of people on here use them. Basically what I'm doing is making a harness from scratch using Raychem shrink and transitions. I have a full shaved and wire tucked ngine bay and want to pass the harness through the firewall with a custom look. All I would need them for is connecting engine harness to interior harness. I just want to know how the connections are made in the harness and how the contacts are connected, special crimping tool? Other tips for using these, etc. Any type of help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
which mil-spec connectors are you talking about?
military spec is just that, a spec not a brand or a specific connector.
I've seen 250 pin mil spec connectors that are as complex as an airplane to put together, and I've seen single pin mil-spec connectors.
Some are solder based, most are crimp based.
the type of crimper depends on the brand of connector.
Just like any other type of connector, figure out how many locations in the connector you need, then find a supplier that has a housing with the right number of pins, that the pins will hold the right amount of current, and of course all this in mil-spec.
