Messed up a piston ring during installation...HELP
I was installing my pistons and ended up bending one of the bottom oil rings pretty bad. What should I do? I dont want to compromise my build, but I dont want to have to buy a whole new set of rings just for 1 ring. Any advice please?
Thanks

If it was an aftermarket set (JE,CP,etc...) they will sell you the oil control set for one piston by its self.If it was a oem set you will need to buy the whole set for one piston.
Yeah it's a Hastings set. I guess I'll see if I can straighten it out some more. If not, I'll be calling Hastings.
I have done this before and have never been able to straighten out the ring as good as new.You will probably have to buy a one piston ring set from hastings, they will probably not just sell the oil control ring set.
Well after looking at their website, I see a link that says "Individual Rings" so I'm hoping it means what I think it means.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
If this is a rering job and you have the old set (and its the same bore) than I wouldn't be afraid of using one of the old rails. They don't really wear out.
