Default measure dome volume?

I recently bought a set of used pistons and I want to check the dome volume on them so I can more accurately (and confidently) calculate the compression ratio I am going to get with them. I was told what they supposedly are, but they don't look like it to me.

I know I can get close with Archemedies (sp?) principle and a graduated beaker, but does anyone have a better/more accurate way?

Thanks.

Put them in a block measure cylinder volume with the top of the dome at the deck, measure the depth of the top of the piston not the dome and calcualte the difference.

or fill one of those cup looking things that u used in science class back in the day with liquid like a thin oil and then but the dome in the cup looking thing. see how much the level goes up. thats ur dome. i doubt its accurate but u should try it for ***** and giggles.
woops reread. u didnt want to do that. u really need to put them in a block first to see how much they stick out of the block....the piston itself not the dome.
