Default mapping an engine

has anyone mapped their engine, if so how/where does the dynamometer get the air flow value?

ive read mapping an engine is calculating the volumetric efficiency of your engine by measuring and computing the actual air flow at different speeds and load points.

And you would be right about your assumption, however, people around here don't really 'map' their engine....they just use a wideband O2 [among other things] and get on with the tuning.
