Default machanic gloves

what is a good brand of mechanic glove? are disposable gloves good for working on cars? They are thin and tears easily when working in tight spots.

I just use latex gloves and change them whenever they get too dirty or torn.

after being a mechanic for a while i just got tired of washing my hands, plus mechanix gloves eliminate a lot of cuts and burns and stuff like that, once you get used to them they kick a lot of ***.. and i get tired of washing my hands all the time when im workin on something really greasy, oily, so latex does its job there

Yeah I tend to cut up my hands quite a bit whenever I don't wear gloves, or when I use latex. When they're cut, it sucks trying to scrub them down with that orange hand cleaner. I have not tried mechanix gloves tho - but it seems like it's worth the money IMO.

Has anybody tried using those big yellow dish washing gloves that moms wear? hehe

get nitrile ( i think thats how u spell it) gloves. there thicker then latex gloves and last longer. i use one pair of those a day thats how good they are. but they are more expnsive then latex gloves. i used to be cheap and just not wear gloves but after washing your hands with hand cleaner 3 or 4 times a day 5 days a week will get your hands dry and have cracks quck. i tries the mechanic gloves to but they are just to thick for little **** like little nuts and bolts

the blue rubber gloves ( i think they are the nitrate ones) work really good. they give the dexterity of latex and are alot stronger then regular latex ones.
or you can use cheap latex gloves under some mechanics gloves.

Yeah I've used those blue nitrate gloves, but they aren't much better than the thin latex gloves. But it is tons better than no gloves at all.

You could get the thin kevlar gloves that Special Forces guys use in the Army!

Latex (all rubber gloves really) are nasty in the summer, probably the only time I work on my car because I don't have a garage.

In the spring I'm going to pick up a pair, I hate washing my hands constantly and I hate latex gloves, they are nearly useless.

Cheers,
Roy

At work we use Skin² a latex glove like you'd see surgeons wearing. Two on each hand is good, or even 3.

I don't really care about dirty hand, i just don't want to get cuts and scratches from tight spots. Do mechanix gloves reduce finger dexity?

I'll agree. You can get them cheap off eBay. I bought a pair for $7 shipped off ebay.
