Clearly, this isn't going to be the highest quality paint job available. While it probably fits the needs of certain people, the results are not going to be spectacular.

That $229 will get you generous amounts of overspray on your windows and trim pieces. A friend of mine got a Maaco job on his track car and it looks fine - but not the kind of quality and attention to detail you would want to have in a street car. Maaco tends not to mask the surfaces that aren't intended to be painted.

as it has been said many times, with a maaco paint job if you do the prep work yourself it does not turn out that bad. Also you would want to take care of it just as any other paint job, if you dont wash it on the regular it was become nasty and ugly. but that just my .02 cents im sure someone will come in here and say im wrong and all maaco paint jobs are shitty.

My friend had his EF painted there, he asked them to paint the bumpers, moldings, mirrors, everything. He did all the bodywork and prep himself, just to insure a quality job, the only thing he didn't prep was the plastic bumpers....

Maaco had it done in two days, they said it usually takes one day, but they were backed up... Bumpers were painted red (Car was previously blue), moldings were black, mirrors were black, windows had a slight red haze to them (overspray), the paint quality wasn't too shabby... we dealt with the molding **** and took it home. . . this was in July.

Fast forward five months, it's december, by this time, the front bumper was about 80% blue and the rear bumper had begun it's paint shedding process, the paint was *** all around, and Maaco...well, their warranty is complete BS.

rent a compressor-gravity fed spray gun-tape/cover/tarp the **** outta your garage-buy some dupont/ppg.etc quality paint, maybe 2 pints outta be plenty-prep it and paint it yourself. you probably will have a better outcome even if you have never painted a vehicle before. i used to work at maaco here in va, and while they werent as bad as some may think, there are def occurences like mentioned above. they use horrible quality paint on the cheaper paint jobs, which A) keeps costs down for consumer and B) is the reason behind paint chipping and going to crap.

.02 deposited. have a nice day

hey there, i just tryed to e-mail you but no such luck, anyway, i was curious on where you might want to take a car to get painted around the n.va area. I would do it myself, but i don't want to f- up anything. I really just need to paint a door, but figure that if i do that, might as wel do the whole car. let me know when u get a chance, if you don't mind. thanks!

i only go to d&v autobody in chantilly, va. they do super quality work, and offer a limited lifetime warranty long as you own the car. plus they are a group of kickass dudes. only people i will ever let touch my sheet metal keep in mind they will def be higher than a lot of people, but just like everything else, you get what you pay for! some food for thought
