eg hatch: obd0 b16 head, obd1 ls block, obd0 b16 intake manifold and throttle body, obd 1 b16 distributor, obd 1 ls fuel rail and injectors, obd1 map sensor hooked up by a short vacuum line, GE lsvtec kit and headgasket, gsr cams, chipped ecu, ls timing belt water pump oil pump
well i got it all put together but for some reason it didnt start. i tried starting it a couple of times but all it does is sounds like it wants to start but doesnt.. just keeps cranking. also tried the chipped ecu and the ls.. no luck. i cant figure out whats wrong. the ls motor was working fine.. all i did was switch up the head. i know its getting fuel cause i can hear it priming and smell it but its just not starting. any ideas what could be happening or anything i should be looking for? what should i do? help please! thanks

your timing is probably off

Make sure firing order is right. If you are looking at the car from the distributor side the 1st cylinder is in teh lower left. From there the firing order is 1432. If you look in haynes it saids number one cylinder is the bottom right but that is wrong. If your wires are right then check all your grounds and make sure that are all connected good. If all your grounds are connected then there is a good chance your timing is wrong.

isnt it 1342 clockwise? timing is all at tdc for cam gears and crank pulley. checking grounds right now and they all seem to be okay but what are the recommended points?
Opps sorry i typed it wrong. The order is 1342 starting from teh lower left but it is counterclockwise. I am 100 % sure about this so make sure this is right. Check your thermostat housing ground. That one is missed a lot.

well i got it to start by messing with the ignition timing but it barely runs like its weak as **** and the valves are ticking loud like a diesel. for some reason i think the motor isnt at tdc even though we checked it a million times when it wasnt running. the reason why i think it isnt is because when i checked the ignition timing it was way b4 the tdc white line like in the middle of no where
also the under hood temps are hotter than normal

took it to a mechanic today and he said we did it right and its at tdc. but he was also like maybe we have to turn the crank a full turn and line it up there and see what happens. so i guess we'll find out if thats the solution tomorrow. the car runs like complete *** right now.. it can barely move
i have an lsvtec setup also.. just got mine running tonight.. sounds like **** also.. timing and everything is fine on mine.. my distributor is out of line.. shakes bad... see if ur dizzy shakes.. could be ur prob... also check all wires and plugs..
u make sure ur starter is grounded??i forgot that on my b20vtec...also check timing.did u bring the motor to tdc before putting the head on??not a huge problem but it helps.
