lsvtec

i have an 88 civic hb, and im gettin an ls motor from a friend. can anyone give me ideas of what to do to it before i put a vtec head on, such as aftermarket parts, blueprinting, anything will be helpful.

Take the block to a machine shop and get it all cleaned up before you use new pistons. I'd also get the entire rotating assembly balanced so you can rev it safely. Do a search there is tons of info on this site you just have to find it, I'm reasearching it right now.

i am as big of a fan as any of an lsvtec, but if you have a complete ls motor, and not just a block, why not slap a turbo on there. it may be cheaper in the long run. i got my lsvtec because i almost had to. i bought a gsr with a bad itr block, and my awesome mechanic found an ls block dirt cheap. otherwise i would never have done it, too many realibility issues that i am trying to deal with now before i blow my motor.

too bad you got dicked. try getting a correctly built ls/vtec next time. if you opt for the ls/vtec...

Ahhh the ls/vtec durability questions.....pick a problem.....over revving, lack of oil, rods snapping, oil line leaking, rotating assmebly "thrown together", head plugs leaking, etc etc...

searching works wonders.....
