i just got a ys1 lsd tranny.
my question is:
aren't you supposed to see through the shafts with no rod showing? it does spin in the same direction when i turn it. i don't think it's a phantom grip, but i think that it has a connecting spider shaft. someone told me that all lsd's have a shaft. but i looked on ebay and saw a typeR s80 and didn't see a shaft or rod. so what do i have? please help.

If you look through the differential there should be nothing but a hole, no shaft.

 

shaft= NO LSD
NO Shaft=LSD

 

what about the phantom grip? it shows a shaft.

 

phantom slip... I mean grip... modifies an open differential and therefore has the spider gear shaft. The helical LSD in the ITR doesn't have spider gears, and subsequently has no spider gear shaft.
