Default LSD Question

hey guys, i'm lookin at buyin this b16 tranny from a buddy of mine, and its got a weird tranny setup. ok, you know on the tranny, the axel goes in on both sides. well, on this tranny, on the driver side, the axel goes in, but on the pass side, there is like an axel tip on it. it has all the axels and half shaft, but i was just curious on what the heck it is. pretty much both axels are the same with the female ends on the axels, and male ends on the tranny and halfshaft.

anyone know if its a lsd, and what kind it is?

Is it a cable transmission or hydro? Got pics?

LSD transmission you can see through the axle holes. Non-LSD you can't.

I never seen anything like that. Somebody must of been experimenting with it doing some sort of axle combo or setup.

Well that tranny is a LSD tranny no question about that. Im curious about the shaft that is sticking out though!

Can you count the splines for us? That may help clue us in on what it is. Can that shaft be removed?

anybody hear think an axle shaft was cut to make a spool out of that LSD. Seems like a pretty good way to make f-ed up differential work. the splined shaft sticking out looks exactly like an axle. I've never seen aftermarket axles with a female end on the tranny side at least not for B series???

Bump for an answer and comments.

my edumacated guess would be....he installed a obx gen 1 lsd....knew the axle wasnt going to come out....so took the male end of an axle....and made himself a custom set that can be taken off...only prob i see....is how the axle is actaully held onto the stub

another problem i forsee...is how well that axle seal is going to seal...i can see lots of tranny fluid being lost

only way to confirm it would be to ask wtf he did it....id stay stear clear regardless of what it has....maybe he set it up to run 2 half axles like that off the half-shaft....so he'd only have to bring 1 thing instead of 2 and kills hte problem w/ the obx lsd...wow now that be crazy...still have a hard time understanding of how it make a good oil seal tho
