Default ls vtec question for all the lsvtec gurus

what do the oil squirters actually do for a vtec block that they never put it in a b18b block????? i am askin this because i am interested in building a lsvtec and i heard b4 (but dont kno if its true) by having forged pistons and rods u really dont even need the oil squirters. is this troo and also i wanted to kno from the lsvtec guru's if i did a basic setup utilizing:
itr oil pump
gsr head(stock head)
forged pistons and rods(11.5:1)
vtec girdle
new bearings and seals and gaskets
arp head studs
p28 ecu chipped
v-afc
what could i expect out of it???? i want reliability, but being of how much it costs to do i will keep the head basically stock for now. i beat on my car now but i always hear about how lsvtecs blow up. after seeing my cousin's and a few other freinds run lsvtecs without no problems i am seeking interest in building my lil b18b but still keeping it a daily driven car. anything else major i will need that i did not mention and any suggestions also on what else to utilize for this headswap?????
i kno a gsr tranny will be needed also because the ls ratios are so long but is that really a bad thing and why???? really interested in this and i did do a search but i would like to kno from current people here about this.
thanks in advance

I would suggest adding to that list, resizing your rods, balancing your rotating assembly, and renotching the rods for GSR bearings ($40) or so... Those would be essentials I think even before arp rod bolts...

I would also suggest searching a bit more cuz there are tons of info on this topic floating around this site.

I have an LS/VTEC Crx. For the head I'm using b16. For the block I'm using b18a1. I have all type R internals and I'm finding out that my set up is pretty reliable.

This guy is a moron :

"I have an LS/VTEC Crx. For the head I'm using b16. For the block I'm using b18a1. I have all type R internals and I'm finding out that my set up is pretty reliable."

-type R internals..howd you manage that? type R crank is NOT LS Vtec-

It is NOT an LS Vtec unless you use the LS crank....It is the LS cranks extra displacement which makes it unique, hence making an LS Vtec. If you use a type R crank, then you will be making a poor mans type R.

I had an LS Vtec using a b18a block, but since have taken it apart and swapped all the internals into a b18c block....Still using the LS crank, with oil squirters was a mission, but we got it working.

the ls block doesnt have the oil squiters i kno that but wil having forged pistons and rods help out not needing the oil squirters??

ic thanks for the advice, also with balancing the crank, how much would u figure the reg cost of that having done would be?????i am still thinking if i should use a lower compression piston so it would be like 10:1 so later on i can boost it, but still not sure with stock valvetrain and the high 12:1 forged pistons what would be a reasonable goal for that setup in power to the wheels???

you should have the whole rotating mass balanced(crank, rods, pistons, flywheel and pulley).depends where you are, but its usually about 200/250.
