I recently got a ls vtec swap installed on my 99 hatch. It pulls but not as hard as my friends crx with a b17 swap. Seems my vtec isn't crossing over, top end is way underpowered compared to my friends. Could my CEL be the reason for this or what????????

t ry switching the two wires at the oil pressure switch i had the same problem and switched the ground and the wire that goes to the ecu and it fixed it...

 

Go get a service manuel form autozone ($20) look up on how to pull the code, then let us know. Yes Your CEL is part of the reason your VTEC does not work. Its trying to tell you what to fix.

ok this might be stupid but do u have enough oil pressure?? You do have an oil line to the head right? If u dont have enough oil pressure vtec will never come on.

 

i have an oil feed line if that's what your referring to.

 

Your friend is in a Crx....He will always seem like he is faster

 

it's the secondary o2 sensor, I think i'm getting one fabricated this weekend, I believe this is the problem, the CEL is keeping the vtec from crossing over since I have a obd 2 car, i'm guessing it's some sort of strict emissions control.
