Default ls/vtec overheating...searched

just recently installed a ls/vtec motor in my da. motor overheats, and fans wont turn, but havent tested them. reservoir bottle coolant boiled and was steaming, when i turned on the heat, warm air came out and temp went down slightly. is my only problem the fans?? i guess the only way to tell is to fix them and see if that solves it, but do i have any other problems??? thanks in advance

Well, if the fans don't turn on, you will certainly overheat. Did you use a new thermostat with your ls/vtec?

Check the thermostat maybe its not opening. That happend to me and i just took it out, boiled it until it opens, then pull it out and put it in cold water so it closes.Install and there you go.

regardless of if it may be the thermostat, you have to fix the fan first to find out, because u can replace a headgasket, a thermostat, and whatever else you want to, but if the fans dont turn on your car is still going to over heat.

yeah, i think it has to be my fan because when i drove it home from my dads shop and around town a little bit ( only time i have had to drive it because the weather sucks in NY, and the car is off the road) it didnt overheat, prob because of the air hitting the radiator. tomorrow im going to wire my fans so that they run all of the time, then ill see if thats the prob
