Ls/Vtec ignition problem
Okay, here is the situation. I did a search already and did not come across anything really related to my situation. So one day I went outside and try starting the car and it wouldn't start. It would turn over and suck in air, but it would not spark. I have a msd ignition with a external blaster coil, so I replace my whole distributor and instead my msd ignition on the new distributor.
The car will start and run fine for about 30 minutes, and then it would bog really bad. I would have to keep the engine revved pretty high to keep it from dying. But when I let go of the gas the car would idle fine at about 900 rpm. As soon as I put it in gear and press on the gas the car would bog. So now I feel stupid for buying a brand new distributor and the car is still not working right.
And I bought a TD-44 JDM OBD1 B16 distributor, so I don't know what is the problem. Car would run fine for about half an hour or so, but as later as soon as I start breaking the car would idle fine but as I try to put it in gear and go, it would bog. Can someone help me.

try dissconnecting the MSD ignition completly........re-install the stock ignition coil and try from there.......
if that still does not work you may have a bad ignitor........
good luck.

well first i would put timming back to stock, it seems that you havent checked that.
about the bogging im also leanning towards the ignitor, try swapping it with another one

Did you just swap in this motor or has it been running fine previous to all these problem? Any CEL? Firing order correct on the plug wires? If everything was working fine before I would too say, swap ignitors, if that doesn't work try barrowing another distributor (if you can)... If it ends up not being any of those problems then I would say check into your MAP/TPS... Sometimes bad or sticking sensors can cause bogging problems... If have had the motor in your car for awhile and it's been running fine then it probably isn't the MAP/TPS but I'm just throwing out ideas... Good Luck
No, I had the car for a while now and the engine swap was done a while back. So I don't think that its the TPS/MAP. I was wondering about the ignitor still because when I bought the new distributor, doesn't it come with a new ignitor as well? I think the firing order is right, but just to make sure can someone tell me the order so I can check. The car is running fine now, but I haven't push the car over 4500 rpm and haven't driven it for more then 10 minutes at a time. But I will check on the ignitor, and set my timing back to stock. Hopefully I will find out the problem, and thanks everyone for the help.
when you bought the new ditributor did you swap out the ignitor from the old one? or did you get a complete new distributor loaded with all the sensors?
It's probably not it if the car is running smoothly now but the correct firing order is 1-3-4-2... Anything else and it won't run right ALL the time... Good Luck again!!!
Check for battery voltage on the yellow with green wire at the distributor with ignition in the on position. If you don't have battery voltage, ignitor is gone.
yes, the new distributor is complete with all new sensors. I checked the yellow wire and the ignitor is fine, so now I will adjust my timing and see if that helps. Thanks everyone.
