Default ls/vtec cost?

Alright say I had a ls long block and a b16 head...about how much $$ into it would I need to make it work? I heard you have to get "kits" for it....that true?

From other posts I have read an ls/vtec engine needs to be built by someone that has experience building them who knows what they are doing very well. If you have someone not experienced with them then you will get a poor build and your engine will be nothing but problems. Also, ls/vtec isn't a cheaper option to just buying a b18c1 or b18c5. If you are doing the build properly expect to pay for it to be done right. I do'nt know exact prices for building them but it's not a cheaper alternative to a b18c, this seems to be the most important thing people don't realize. Just do a search and you will see what people have paid for them. If you want a 1.8 liter vtec i say go with one thats already built, b18c
