Default ls rods...shot pened?

i heard that the ls pistons are good to 300 whp...how true is this?

also would it be worth it to run shot pened rods? i just want to save some money... but i dont want to risk any danger to the motor...

how much would it cost to have the rods shot pened?

Don't know if I would trust even shot peened LS rods to handle 300 whp reliably.

Shot peening may be less expensive than new rods in some cases, but only increases strength like 15%-20% over stock.

I would suggest new performance rods if reliability is what you want.

Performance, Reliability, Cost: Now pick which two

As the old saying goes: speed costs, how fast do you want to go?

Most machine shops around my parts charge somewhere in the neigborhood of $150-$200 for shotpeening.

Can get good set of Eagle H-beam rods for like $350-$400.

Maybe even cheaper depending on where you find them.
