LS rod question
i own a 95 integra se soon to have a b16 head on it. i have a couple questions: 1)Is it cheaper to just change the rod bolts than to change out the entire rod (referring to labor only) 2) does it make sense to change out rods to forged rods and keep stock pistons? 3) whats the cheapest way to allow my motor to rev out to at least 8k rpm?
p.s. oil pump and water pump will be changed as well as timing belt. TIA.

a) take it to a machine shop to resize
b) yes. new bearings are always nice, and since they're not more than like $150 even for Honda ones, just do it. bearings are kind of important, no? you never reuse a bearing. if you untorque the bolts that hold it, replace it.

178k miles ls stock bottom end 8k rpms everyday still not even a tick. we tried to blow it up once because we have a gsr motor for it and couldnt get it to come apart so we left it in the car still holding strong to this day. I know when he pulls in my drive because instead of his horn all i hear is the 8k rev limiter. I am overly surprised of the strength of these motors.
However i dont recomend doing 8k on a stock bottom end if you care about it. arp and a balance is the way to go.

resizing meaning you have to get the rod end shaved and re-honed round after you torquee the arp's down.
the increased torque of the arp's will cause the rod to egg shape.
