ls motor
hey i'm looking at building a ls-vtec swap and i found a ls motor thats hydroloc for real cheep($100) its a 96 low miles on it and since i'm going to replace everything inside the block it would be alright to buy....wouldnt it??? give me your advice guys
if i were you i would look around some more
i can find good engines around where i live for cheap
i can get a a1 for 150 with no dizzy
or i can get a 93 b18a1 with dizzy with a blown headgasket for 125
i am shure that you can find engines at your local junkyard for fairly cheap
another good place to go is to go to a used car lot that primarily deals with honda/acura thay are usually willing to make a few bux off of old non running engines

i guess it would be good if the block/ crank was in good condition, remember that if he hydrolocked the cylinder walls might be messed up; needing resleeving.
the crank journals might also be messed up needing to be turned....
If its like that you'll be spending lots of loot.

sure, buy it. Dont even think of actually putting it in a car without alittle machine shop time. You are going to need, if capable, take measurements of cylinder wall taper, out of round, deck warpage......remember.004" is the limit or deck warpage. The crank will probably need the be polished if it isnt worn bad. But sure, i would try to give him even less. Since all you really getting is a bare block.
good luck,
good luck,
