Default Ls final drive in Gsr tranny?

Have anyone every try to install or running a LS final drive into a GSR tranny? I need to know what parts are required from the LS tranny and is this a direct swap?? Any comments are welcome but prefer someone who had acturally done it and know what they are talking about.

Less than 3% difference in the gearing. Cheaper/easier to change tire size.

You can do it....You need the ring gear for the differential from the Ls and then you need the counter shaft from the LS

you're mixing up trannys, the 88-91 JDM CRX SiR B16a tranny was 4.266 final, the LS hydraulic trannies are all 4.4 finals ... I only rebuild these about 10 times a week.

You need to start working on newer cars..

The US 2G Integra cable trannies are 4.266 as well.. The JDM version is 4.40, but this link from FF should clear things up.. http://tiiite.b16a.com/Bgears.htm

i have a screwed up gsr tranny. my ring gear and couter shaft are chewed up but everythng esle is good to go.

i bought what i thought was another gsr tranny (S80) bit when i opened it up it has 64 teeth on the ring gear as opposed to my gsr ring gear which has 65 teeth on it. i counted each at leasty 6 times. so it looks like i bought a LS tranny intead.

i wanted to know since all i need is the ring gear and couter shaft can i just put the LS ring gear and counter shaft into my gsr tranny and keep all my gsr gears and syncros? is there anything special i ned to buy extra or anythign special i need to do? or is it as simple as just hainv my gsr gears and syncors put onto the LS counter shaft and bolting on the LS ring gear to my gsr diff?

also if i use the gsr gears on the LS counter shaft can i still keep my GSR main shaft with all the gears? or do i have to swap anything onto that as well?

thanx in advance....

You will also need to use the LS diff - the LS ring gear is smaller than the GSR and it won't fit the GSR diff.

As far as swapping gears over, I don't see any reason you couldn't use GSR gears on the LS countershaft. When I had my transmissions apart, they looked identical (except for the gear that mates to the ring gear, of course).

Depending on the year of the GSR transmission, you might want to use the sealed bearings instead of the tapered ones when you swap diffs.
