I have an LSVTEC with about 6k-7k on it, using a mechanical Autometer oil psi gauge. When the car warms up it idles at a normal 20psi, when the car gets hot during the day oil psi drops to 16-17psi. When the engine is hot at night with all my accessories on oil pressure sits around 15psi at 850RPM @ Idle. Lights also dim when car idles at night. Turn up idle? If so, then what RPM should I turn the idle up to?
I don't like oil pressure dropping below 18psi at any time.. oil looks good, using Mobil1 10w30.

 

interesting....my oil pressure on my gsr never dropped below 15 psi when hot. Engine was never cracked open...just IHE. I believe the only specs are above 50 psi at 3k rpm.
Try a smaller oil filter to raise oil pressure. Not sure it that will help
Or you can install a new oil pump if you're worried.

 

15-20 psi at idle is normal, mine does the same when its real hot the psi is about 15

at 3k it should be about 70 psi

remember that when you have your accesories on, the idle will be a little lower wich = lower psi

 

did you reuse the oil pump?
