Loud "Tink!"
Whenever I stop my car, turn it off, and get out, within 10 seconds I will hear a single, loud "tink!". I sounds like it is coming from the driver's side, front half of the car. See my sig for mods that might be to blame. It sounds sorta like something cooling down and creaking as it cools, but it is real loud and only happens once. A metalish tink or twang. It is NOT a backfire or something like that.

Thisis the sound of metal (heat shields) either expanding from the heat, or retracting from cooling down. I wouldnt say after every time I turn off the car, but usually when I drive it hard things get pretty hot and start "tinking" when you turn the car off...

I'm getting the same thing, not the normal "lightweight" creeks and ticks but like you said a "clank". Does it happen every time you turn the car on and off or just after it's been running for a while (up to "normal operating temp")?
I think just after its been driven a while and is warm.
No mods yet, just swapped it in (00gsr into 99coupe) so money is tight right now. Still working out little bugs(vacuum leaks, rattles here & there, biggest prob is figuring out how to bypass the immobilizer). But the first time I heard the clank it scared the **** out of me. I'm kinda thinking it might be running a little hot.

After I replaced my OEM exhaust (which made a lot of tinking noises after the car's shut off), my 2.5" custom cat-back didn't tink. Now, after having it for a year, it'll ocassionally do one loud TINK, and be quiet for the rest of the night.
