The only thing I can imagine your mechanic meant by lifters is rocker arms. But if you did a valve adfustment then that should have solved that problem. I hope your mech. didn't mean push rods, because then I would suggest to go see another mechanic.

Did you do your adjustment when the engine was cold? If yes, then it might be the lca's.

Anyone else know what he might have meant by lifters?

there are lifters that go under the rocker assembly. there round, two piece, and have a small spring inside. I am not sure how else to explain it. but I will say I don't usually see to many go bad-not saying that it couldn't go bad it's just not common.

Lifters, tappets, rockers, cam-followers; some people sorta use those terms interchangeably. Whatever goes inbetween the camshaft & the valve. Hondas use levers that you can call tappets or rockers or ??? Tapping noise under the valve cover often means you need to adjust your valve lash. On many other cars it means the hydraulic lifters/tappets are going bad...

If you did your valve adjustment wrong, that might be it. If the mechanic simply listened he's sorta guessing. Until he opens up the valve cover & actually works on it.

Only VTEC engines have LMAs. They're supposed to hold some tension against the VTEC cam-follower so it doesn't rattle loose when VTEC is not engaged. They can make a tapping noise, too.

Then again, Honda fuel injectors also make ticking noises...

I'd do it again but .15 on the intake and .17 on the exhaust. Run them on the tighter side of honda clearances. Also when you measure make sure there a slight drag with feeler gauge.
