Default looking for a safe rev limit

How high do you think I could rev, on a regular basis ,a D16Y7 (99 DX) sohc nonvtec head w/ stock valve train? It's on a D15B2 block. My buddy used to run his D16Y7 head to 9000-9500 rpm all the time. I figured 8000-8200 would be ok, but I figured I'd let others who have experience or knowledge give me there input. This is an all-motor project. My mods are listed in my signature. Head has a street/strip cam and i'm running for now a PG-7 89 teg ecu.

Thanks-Jason

7000 max (Safely)

No way should you be winging a sohc up to 8000+ without some nice headwork and upgraded valvetrain. As for your friend that goes 9000+ - that's insanity. Takes quite a bit for a B16 to go that high safely and the B16 is made to rev.

stock sounds about right. if you completed your vavletrain with springs/retainers, it would go up a little, and if you had the bottom end balanced, it would go up more again

yeah, stock for now....since you dont have a upgraded valvetrain. Contact crower to see what they say about the cam's powerband and go from there, depending on what they tell you red line should be.
