Default Looking for a good jack. Which do you use?

The jack I have now isn't low profile enough and takes way to many pumps to jack the car up. (It is a SEARS brand I believe (Craftsman maybe)).

Norco and MAC Tools make great jacks. It's all we use at the R&D Facility.

.... not a bad buy! I'd probably go that route if it was on my dollar.

Agreed. A little spendy for home use, if that's what you're going to use it for, but they work wonderfully. Horror Freight special is decent enough, too.

I have a jack i got from Sams for $90 about 3 years ago.. it has held up well so far. the best feature is that when your car is up on stands way the hell up in the air, it only takes 2 pumps for the jack to reach the crossmember, pretty much no matter how high it is. still takes a lot of pumps to get it up that high in the first place, but under no load, it goes up quick. only downside is i live in an apartment, and lugging that steel bastard up and down stairs sucks.

I know another guy who got one and it started leaking after only a year.. so i think the ones they have now have kinda gone downhill. but the price is good.

IMHO, spending 150+ for a nice alum jack is not worth it i've seen one first hand break on a friend. If your car is slammed driving on a 2x4 will help you use a standard jack. i personally do that and use the craftsman suv jack that will support more than enough weight and give me 24in of lift
