Default Long Warm Up normal?

I have a 94 Honda Civic with a GSR swap in it. I've never owned a Honda till now. I don't know if the tiny radiator is normal but its like half the size of the one on my mustang. But anyways the car takes forever to warm up. it stays on cold forever I don't know if its from the small radiator with the fan that's the size of it or what but it does warm up if its hot outside and I drive it for atleast 20 minutes then the temp hand with barely go up?? help

If it gets to operating temp then you have no issues.

Sounds like you either have no thermostat, or it's stuck open.

Also, you should not have a "tiny radiator" with a GSR swap. Sounds like someone half assed it and used the Civic radiator. Get a properly sized Integra radiator for that engine if you have any issues with heat in the summer.

i wouldn't say a civic radiator is inadequate for it. a civic si has a half size radiator and works completely fine.

I can let it idle and never warm up if I drive it cut it off crank it drive some more and cut it off again it will be where it needs to be when I crank it but it never gets real warm it just stays cool. I thought it could be the thermostat but the radiators in Hondas are small I didn't know if it was normal for them to be small or if the integras radiator is small also?

If the radiator were too small, it wouldn't stay cold all the time - it would be too hot. Check to see if there is a thermostat installed, and go in with a new one.

if the radiator was too small it would warm up fast and overheat .. not take forever to warm up

think about it

Sounds like no thermostat is in there.

My car idling takes about 15-20 minutes before the OIL temps start climbing abover 120f. Water temps come up within 10 (but wont kick the fan for about 30min cause of the low oil temps) and thats just idling.

From dead cold it takes 5 miles for everything to come up to proper temps if im just driving around town.

But I have a nice vw radiator in my da

wow you are lucky. they just flat out scare me! too inattentive to notice their cushy society is falling apart around them but will all stand around like what happened when it hits the fan and they cant snapchat each other anymore.

so yeah, i would certainly replace the thermostat. since they are relatively cheap i would go for oem.

by the way the problem turned out to be thermostat and the guy lied to me of course. he took the thermostat out because head gasket was going bad. I had to clean out all the silicone gasket crap that clogged my heater core. and temp is good now. so you guys with the negative snide comments should get over yourself. I work all the time and I have to make time to do it so when I go to do it I wanna know all the possible causes so thanks for beings those guys. btw I don't have snapchat and barely use facebook so the stupid generation going to crap doesn't apply to me because i actually have a job and no its not a mechanic job obviously. now that its been this long this thread can die again lol just had to clear some things up from however long this thread was created..

My 95 RHD SI takes forever to warm up as well. I'm going to check the thermostat, and then I check back in. TTYL
