Default lightened Flywheel ?

What would be the ideal flywheel weight for a road/rally use turbo B? I've seen some that are 9lbs. but I think those are better suited for drag cars. Could someone fill me in on the stock flywheel weight and the streetablility of a flywheel weighing 9lbs? I'm looking for a broad power band, not a top one.

The only issues with a lightened flywheel is inital launch. Once the car is rolling the lighter the better.

lightened flywheels are not as well suited for drag racing. in drag racing heavier flywheels are much better.

I would rather have a JUN or a Toda just for the name, but the Clutchmaster one works well and it weighs about 9lbs.... Latez

Sorry, this is a little off topic, I know, but can you explain why the lightened flywheel is not suitable for drag racing? This notion is new to me, I need clarification.

simply put, stored energy. once heavier flywheel is spinning, it simply stores more momentum, which is mass x accleration. momentum is what keeps you going once you are moving. therfore heavier flywheel is spinning at 8000rpm as well as lighter one. the heavier will have more energy which it passes onto the tranny. find Mista bone he has done some testing on d-series on flywheels and found that lightweight and drag wasn't any better.

stock can be machined to 12lbs or so without much structual damage to the flywheel.

JUN and few others sell 10-11lbs flywheels. I personally run stock GSR (18lbs), ITR (15lbs), shaved stock (12lbs) and then Cusco and Toda at 8-9lbs.

from the testing 12lbs seemed like the best compromise as it gave me best overall feeling in acceleration

I have the CM lighten flywheel. I believe it was 9lbs and I am running 18 psi. I really have not noticed it at all. Just on take offs. Car shakes and shutters but I have a ACT 6 PUCK clutch and Poly mount. Not a big fan of the lighten flywheel. Bought one because mine was cracked.

Just didn't want to start a whole new thread...

I don't know much at all about clutches. I plan on getting an Action Clutch, just a stock upgrade street disc, mainly because the quality is decent and the price is pretty nice. I would like to install a new flywheel at the same time. Any recommendations? I'm considering various aftermarket flywheels, since I can get some of them cheaper than the stock from Acura, but should I bother? Can I use an ACT StreetLite flywheel with an Action Clutch? As far as I can see, the answer is yes, but I'm research-obsessed...Any other ideas for a clutch?

Nitpicking, but momentum = mass x velocity. Mass x acceleration = force. Otherwise, good explanation.

Thanks guys, I'm still a little skeptical on chromoly, but it it seems to be okay for flywheels.
