Anyone know ho to do a leak-down test? I don't want to do a compression test because I think the starter is bad in my girlfriend's wrecked Toyota Supra. Any links?
Thanks,
Karl

You will need a special leak-down test tool with 2 pressure gauges which basically supply compressed air at a constant pressure (shown on one gauge) and the second gauge indicates how much of that pressure is maintained in the cylinder.
If you hear hiss from the intake, intake valve is leaking, same rational for exhaust valve and exhaust pipe, if you hear the hiss from the oil filler hole in the valve cover or elsewhere, it's likely the ring.
You still need to bring each piston to top dead center first, I guess you can roll the car in gear (if it's a stick shift) to achieve that.

Thank You,
Another concearn is that an intercooler pipe has been mashed into one of the belt pulleys. i think the compression test / leak Down tests will have to wait untill I can strip out osm eof the mangled parts.
Thanks Again
