Can someone also explain double clutching while they are at it?

to launch you want to rev to 3k or more... then let out the clutch as fast as possible while still easing it through the engagement point so as not to cause slippage.

double clutching is when you release the clutch in between the gears the rev up the engine to better match the rpm range it will be going into... This is TOTALLY un-neccisary... it's a technique used by truckers who's transmissions do NOT have synchros' like our do... the whole point of a synchro is to eliminate the need for rev-matching or double clutching.

It might be unnecessary, but it lets you downshift smoother.

Oh, then with an H22a in my eg shifting is really rough, so double clutching helps lots.
