Default KYB Shocks Install Problem

I installed a set of KYB AGX adjustable shocks on my 00 Civic last night, and now when I drive around, I hear clunking sounds from the front struts. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I've re-checked and tightened all the bolts and nuts but can't seem to get rid of the sound. TIA

Did you check to see if you reinstalled the upper shock bushings correctly?

I'm not exactly sure what that is, but I used the stock bump stop and trimmed it about an inch. Then installed a washer that holds in place about half way down the piston rod, then a stock blackrubber bushing, then the stock black plastic shock cover, then a black stock washer, then the black top of the strut. I was sure the springs were seated correctly in the shocks too and only the front makes the clunking noise.

It's possible your struts are hitting your hood. if you didn't install them properly.

I thought so too, but I lifted the hood and shook the front of the car and still got the sound. Thanks for the suggestion though. Anyone else?

So with the car sitting and you rocking it you get the sound?

If so, the springs are not in the right way.

Really? What do you mean because I can see the springs seat at the bottom of the shocks.

Doesn't the stock black plastic cover go on before the stock black rubber bushing?

Yep sounds like the springs are not seated in the perch.

I had a similar problem, but it was part # 10 making the noise. I also had coilovers too. What i ended up doing is getting some huge heat shrink tubing, and cut it to size, and replace that. No more clunking or sqeaking. Are you using stock springs?

Well I can see the springs seated from the wheel well, so I don't think that's the problem. I have Neuspeed Sport springs. From looking at the diagram, I think I put the bushing #6 underneath the shock cover instead of under the cap #7. I have time this Monday since it's MLK day so I'm gonna take it all apart, put the bushing in the right place, and re-check the seating of the springs. Thanks for all your inputs.

If part #10's outside Diameter is larger than the inside diameter of the sping it can make that noise.
