Knocking noise on acceleraton???
My car, H22A EG4 has a knocking noise.
The noise is present whilst the car is driving and also idle when I accelerate abrubtly. If I press the accelerator slowly, then it is all good. It is only when I push on it quickly from idle.
My initial thought was that it was a timing issue, I checked the timing with a timing gun and it is set at 15 degrees.
What could it be?
On a side note, the car has new spark plugs, oil, etc.

It is possible that the knock is not coming from the engine. If one of the engine or transmission mounts were broken it could causing a metallic knocking noise under the conditions you mentioned.
cracked header on a runner would sound like a knock everytime that cylinder fires...i only say that because my turbo manifold has a crack and sounds like that..
It's weird, its definately coming from around the block/head area.
Its not the header because it only happens on occassion.
Also, im using 98RON fuel, the highest in Australia, it should be equivalent to your
93RdON fuel.
I will check the mounts though, thats a good suggestion.
It sounds exactly like pinging though .... ecu?

does it vibrate at all when knocking on hard acceleration?
if it does suspect an axle, cause often times in hybrid swaps the axles can be a tee bit to short or long which can make them vibrate and knock when you get on it

it might be you have bad thrust brearings on the crank. what you hear is called crank walk if this is your problem. the knock will be most apperant when leaving stop signs aggresivly. check your crankshaft endplay.
Def need to check clearances and run more tests
the knocking does not seem to be as apparent as a H23 i encountered that had bad bearings, these were rod bearings though.
Also, i forgot to mention that this car has a hondata. Could the timing maps cause this? KS is disabled on it.
