Your ability to rev up will be much more quick, but your idle will be screwed if too much material is removed, harmonics is your friend. Also no point in getting a knife edged crank if you do not compliment the lighter set-up with aftermarket rods and pistons

there is no need for that... just have a reputable shop balance your rotation assembly... knife edging your crank is just you looking for problems... most PRO racers dont even use knife edged cranks in thier race cars ...and most deffinately not a good idea for a street car...bad idea

knife edging is an old musclecar trick, where the cranks would slosh through the oil in the crankcase causing aeration. On our hondas, the crank doesnt even come close to the oil in the pan. Not to mention that we have factory windage trays, to further isolate that problem.

IMO, knife edging is only to be considered if your looking to remove every last bit of weight. Not to be considered on a street car. If you want quicker revs, get a lightweight flywheel instead. IMO.

if you plan on taking your powerband higher then the stock rev limit then dont knife your crank.

er ?

a unbalanced crank would result in more vibrations at high rpms.

just to bring this up
i have had my crank knife edged, they have calanced the whole bottom end too, but how does it affet the reliability at high RPM
they have made it more aero dynamic at higher RPM balanced to grade 6.3 iirc
