knicked pistons...still safe?

Default knicked pistons...still safe?

these pistons i just recieved have knicks all over the skirt, and there is one that im worried about theres a den on the corner at the edge of the top of the piston. will that be alright if i just snad it down or should i replace:? ill try to get pics up later tonight...

No way! if you are building an expensive *** motor why would you put in "knicked" or "dented" pistons. Who made the pistons? You also don't want to go to sanding one down, I hope your not putting used pistons in your motor either.

you will have HUGE problems soon!!! thats like putting old oil in your engine, not such a good idea..

spin them on a lathe if you're even thinking about doing something to them.

by then you're totally changing the properties of the piston.

just get another set.

Post some pics John. Sanding and some scotch-brite is okay for minor nicks. Thes are OEM pistons right?

I was wondering the same thing myself. What if the nicks are so minor you can barely feel them is it ok to use them still? When I had my block bored the machinist held onto the pistons and he put some extremely minor nicks and surface scratches on one of the pistons. My pistons were brand new, they are SRP.
