Default Key stuck/shifting problems

Gents,

The Old Marine certainly appreciates your help, trust me. My question is two fold

1. I'm driving from my house to the store (not very far), pull into parking lot and put car in park, the parking light does not come on and I can't remove the key, I must sit for several minutes until the parking light comes on in the dash - strange, can someone help me out. I've checked virtually every fuse, looked ok to me...

2. The other thing is when shifting from park to reverse the car feels like it's freaking Elvis!!!! It shakes it's *** off, but when I put it in drive it's ok, it concerns me it does that. Could it be some type of timing problem?

Once again, I greatly appreciate your help, I'll be out and about for a few months starting next month, wanting to make sure the wife does not have to worry about the car....

thanks and Semper Fi.....

welcome back teken!

and i would replace the tranny fluid after visual inspections. it sounds like it could be low fluid or a dying tranny.

Yes, when inserting the key into the shiftlock, it release smoothly....I just had the transmission fluid changed approximately 3 months ago and I checked it last week, looked and smelled good..

I'm gonna ttt this one, my GF's car is doing this as well. it will not release the key when the car is in park after driving it, and sometimes you need to use another key to get the car to shift out of park. other than these two things, her car works perfectly, I don't have the shuddering or shifting problems...just cant get the key out! It's kinda driving me nuts and it's not my car so I have no manual!

That usually indicates a bad shift possition switch. (Located on the left side of the shifter assembly.)

Did you check your motor mounts, in particular the front one?
