Keeping it Streetable: B16A
How much horsepower can one get out of a B16A, realistically, and still be able to drive it in traffic? I'm still on the all-motor bandwagon, and I have the following mods in mind. I think at this point it's all a question of magnitude, and how far I can go without tipping my car over into the strictly-track world.
Ported/Polished Heads
Ported/Polished Combustion Chambers
1mm Oversized High-compression pistons (11.2:1)
Resleeve
Aggressive Cam
Oversized Valves (.5mm or 1mm)
Valve train overhaul (10,000 RPM redline) (Supplimental question... Do double springs affect streetability, cause an 11,500 RPM redline seems even better)
New Intake Manifold/Injectors/Fuel Pump/TB/CAI
New Exaust System/Headers
Hondata Tune-up
Now this will all cost me a grip, but I want to do it right. I think this set-up will afford me the best balance of dependability and performance in the long run. I just want to know how much power I can reasonably expect to get out of it. Also, I know there is other stuff I should buy... Radiators, suspension, etc,... But I'm mostly looking at my motor.

if your gonna spend allll that money
start with a better base
like a b18c1 motor.
the b16 isnt a good candidate for allmotor.
espically when your gonna dump 5k+ into it like you are.

The main think I'm looking at with the B16 is the R/S ratio... 1.74 is pretty dang good. I'd rather my engine last longer than go moderately quicker. The HC pistons and intake mods alone should put me in B16B territory. I'd go even higher compression if there were any way I could still port the combustion chambers and avoid detonation... Or, skip on the port if the HC pistons made more power.
If you think an engine spinning to 10k RPM will last a long time, regardless of r/s ratio, you're mistaken. Trade RPM for displacement here, you'll be much happier with the end results. If you really want a great r/s ratio, start with the Dart B20+ block. With the 84.5mm bore and a GSR's 87.2mm stroke crankshaft, you'd have a 1.96L motor with a 1.74:1 r/s ratio. And you wouldn't have to rev it past 8.5k to get better power than the B16 at 10k.
10K RPM would put about 38% greater stress on the internals than 8.5k, assuming equal reciprocating weight.
