Default just a little help

ok im not only a new honda driver but im a new driver in general (im not a 16 year old kid though, just spend alot of time in the middle east) ive bought a 2001 civic ex i love it its an awsome car but latley ive been hearing some really strange noises in it. i dont know enough to say for certian but im pretty sure its the transmission. there is also a pretty instense vibration comming from the center of the car leaning twords the front right ( the location of the transmission?) the vibration comes and goes. but usally happens when i go from moving pretty quick to slowing the car down to a stop although it does happen from time to time when the car sits still while running. I'm planning on taking it to a shop but i was wondering if some one could help me pin point the problem so i dont have to pay the con artist mechanics who live around my area preying on soldiers as much. thanks for the help guys.
