Default Just installed Crower 63402's....

The valves with these cams installed are said to be adjusted to: .006 int .008 exh
while stock are .006 and .007
So I adjusted to what Crower specs are required and the valves are still ticking. (It gets louder as the engine is revved up.) Am I supposed to run the valves tighter even if it's at .006 and .008 or could it be something else (I don't think it's the injectors, though). Any help is appreciated.

when i first installed my crower cams and followed the specs they gave me i also notice the valve were ticking quite a bit as well.

i e-mailed crower and asked if i can set the clearences tighter and they said as long as it's within factory spec it should be fine.............so i set mine at .005 intake and .006 exhaust and it's perfect!

Hey thanks non-VTEC, I didn't want to go too tight at first because I've heard you lose performance if the valve clearance are too tight; but I'm gonna tighten them to factory specs, thanks.
(It's weird that Crower require them looser than factory, which causes them to tick still )

FYI, factory specs are 0.006-0.007 on intake/0.007-0.008 on exhaust. The additional "ticking", plain and simple, is: higher lift cams=more valvetrain noise. Stiffer valve springs will also add to the comotion.

FYI,

FYI, factory specs are 0.006-0.007 on intake/0.007-0.008 on exhaust.
FYI,
those specs are correct for a VTEC head maybe? the non-VTEC head have slighty diffrent specs.............either way high lift or not the ticking can be keept down to a minium with slightly tighter clearences........

The 402's have more aggressive ramps (valve lift rates) so the tighter lash will help. Just make sure you check your clearances periodically so that you don't run tight valves otherwise you'll burn valves. Overtime the lash becomes tighter because the valves sink into the seats more.

Gm2000ITR said that tighter valve springs can also assist in the extra noise? --(don't know how to do that quote thingy) Really?

Well anyways, thanks everyone for their inputs; I'm gonna go tighten my valves to .006 int and .007 exh & hopefully everything is cool.
