Default Jerky Acceleration

Hey guys, I need help diagnosing a problem with my car since I don't have time to bring it in till next weekend.

Anyways, I drive a 93 civic hatch Si, and once in awhile while I'm accelerating, the revs will drop although I'm stepping on the throttle, then after dropping, the revs will all of a sudden jump back up. It almost feels like the fuel isn't being ignited or fuel isn't getting in at all. This doen't happen all the time tho, say like once every 30-40km's it'll happen for a a few minutes, then dissapear. Another thing is it trips the check engine light, but not all the time. Anybody have any idea on what could be wrong?

Immediately I'd say check the TPS. What codes are the ECU throwing when the CEL comes on?

roomie had a similar problem with his WRX.

at 4500 RPM every gear it would slip back to 2k. he got his clutch replaced and it worked fine.

ended up the clutch was worn.

My brother's having the same problem with my WRX, but I don't see why it would throw a CEL though.
