Is there a difference between the '96 JDM Spec Type R and the '98 JDM Spec Type R trannsmissions?

4th and 5th and FD are all different..

Does the 98 have a higher (numerically) final drive like 4.78 or so? I am looking for the tranny that would be best for AutoX. Thanks
