Default JDM R Compression test results....advice?

Well I am considering the purchase of this JDM type R (b18c) motor swap and I just got the compression test results:

Cylinder1 -228
2 -243
3 -250
4 -248

This R "supposedly" has less than 10k on it and it has a 99 stanp on the head. I am really concerned about the variance of 24 psi between cylinder 1 and 3, spec is a max of 27. Do these #'s look normal to anybody expierienced with these motors?

I wouldn't think it was the rings...the comp is too high for it to be bad...If anything a valve isn't seating all the way. The engine was warm when you tested it right? You should do a leak down on it if you can that will tell you a bit more about the condition...you have heard it run suppose, how does it sound?

Thx for jumping in guys. Unfortunately the motor is out of the car and I did not hear it run. The same results were obtained by cranking 5 times, the test was done 3 times. It was also cold. Someone said the results are unreliable when the motor is cold and sitting for awhile, possibly an open valve in Cylinder 1 and rust on the wall? Also heard if the oil has been drained, that could also affect friction?

any help much appreciated.

AL

btw, what does each number in the circles on the head represent?
I believe the first two are year and month, the others?
