Default JDM d15b potential?

i am thinking of swaping in a d15b motor into my eg si, i would just like to know the potential of these motors, i have heard that they are real strong motors, i was wondering if i can have some input, list your set-ups with the motor, and quarter mile times,

thanks

I just have I/H/E. But like anything else it all depends on how much you want to spend. I'm sure there is a lot of potential in this motor though

hey man,

the d15b is an alright motor, gets decent gains when you modify it but it's a hell of alot harder to source parts with as alot of the measurements are different than say the d15b7 persay or the d16z6..I got one in my EG right now, it's a VX chassis, engines got about 100,000 on it and is dieing (it's been put through alot).

My suggestion man, stick with the z6, you got alot more options with that and a whole range of areas to go, plus it has a nicer powerband IMO. I'll be swappin my d15b for a z6 soon enough

From what I understand the D15b is basically a Vx block mated with a z6 head. The part# for the timing belt is exactly the same as a Vx. The only trouble I have run into is finding an aftermarket camshaft. I like it

Ive heard that it has the same great bore/stroke ratio as a B16, which makes it reliable for power upwards of 400hp. But unfortunately most people don't know that it exists. I'm surprised that no magazines have tackled the issue. It would be nice to have a running series where they test other D series parts for fitment.

bore to stroke or rod to stroke? i dont know, don't ask me.

I think it would be more practical to spend the money and rebuild the Z6, maybe with some higher compression pistons or something. Either that or you could sell the Z6 to offset the cost of the D15.
