A friend of mine bought a JDM EG SiR civic with quite a bit of work done to it, bridgestone suspension, buddy club exhaust, Spoon 4-2-1 header, Kaaz LSD, Defi oil press/temp/volt gauges Enkei superlight wheels, Project Mu brake pads, HKS intake etc etc. The car is seriously quick compared to other SiRs i've driven (i've owned two) we pulled off the valve cover off but without pulling the cams right out its hard to ID them. The only two markings i could see on them were 'B' stamped midway along the exhaust and 'K' midway along the intake cam or vice versa (cam gears are stock PR3 gears) Do stock B16 cams have these letters stamped on them or is there a chance theyre aftermarket cams??? the valve springs look larger/thicker than ones i've seen before, without pulling them out i'd say that the coils are 3-4mm thick, does that sound about right?
I just looked at the cams/camgears that came out of the '92eg6 I owned when I was stationed in japan. I swapped in some ctr cams and just have these sitting around now.
Camgears both PR3
intake J
Exhaust K
The letters were close to the holes you use to align the cams.
I double checked and the "k" is on the exhaust cam. It may be different from year to year. What year is the motor?
The only reasons I can think of is they those letters are either for model identification or batch. But those are only guesses.
