Has anyone ever used JB weld to repair a crack in an engine block? Is it an effective repair? How premanent is it?
NO, you cannot use JB weld to fix a cracked block.
uhm actually you can. i wouldnet ever recommend it but i knew a guy that had an old chevy s10 and he cracked his block, and it was a pretty big crack and it lasted another year and a half
Yes, I am serious. I am in the process of purchasing a 1997 neon that supposedly has a cracked block. I have not seen it but my instinct tells me that the mechanic is trying to rip of my 70 year old co worker who is selling me the car cause the mechanic quoted him 4500 for new engine+labor. I think it's either a head gasket or expansion plug. The old man says it overheated and you can see the block leaking coolant.
