ISB bad? need advice...
just got through reading several threads and did not find the answer. i have a 95 integ LS, lately i have been picking up a weird ticking sound when accelerating from a stop (i.e. at low speeds). it will do it when the clutch is engaged and accelerating, if i let off the gas the sound goes away. sound is not there when the clutch is pressed or if in neutral (clutch in or out). seems to be a speed dependent thing, not rpm dependent (could be wrong since i cannot hear it at higher speeds due to road noise). any ideas? ISB? Int. shaft? Diff?
see if your axles are loose and check your trsnny for oil.when my tranny was low on oil it was doing a ckicking noise as well.also what might seem a click is an exhoust leak.it turned that i had a small hole in my headers.it sounded like a cickling noise due to the exhoust pulsations.good luck!
thanks charlee ricer... i swapped out my axles last week hoping it could be axle related (both outer boots have been torn for a while). no change in the sound at all. while i was under there i checked the fluid level and it looked good.
after driving the car all day, i was able to do some more tests. the noise is there in all gears. if i'm cruising at about 30mph, then push the clutch down while in gear (2nd) i can still hear the clicking/rubbing (at idle RPM). if i shift it to 3rd (clutch still in and cruising at the same 30mph) the noise seems to slow down. now the noise seems to be RPM dependent. So, now i hear it at all times when the car is in gear and moving regardless of clutch pedal position. does this narrow it down?

ok so we know is nothing aFter the tranny because is rpm dependant.so before the tranny.well you did help a lot by describing the problem in more detail.here try this (and really do it.lol)ok cruise at around 25 mph in 3rd gear and hit the gas all the way.then tell me if the noise gets stronger or louder.seriusly a lot of those times it could be an tiny exhoust leak that is small enough to make a clicking noise due to the exhoust pulsations.im basing this due to my first car witch was a 1990 honda prelude did exactly the same thing.that sounded like a clicking noise.at first i thought it was the valvetrain that was f,d up of sumting. but it turned out it was a ridicule exhoust leak.lolif this doasent help ht me up again bro to see what i can do to assist you next.oh by the way my AIM is charleericer if you need to talk bout this litle more.good luck bro
