Default Interior plastic SCRATCH removal?

Car I drive is a '98 Integra Type-R. When I shift hard at times, the radio has flown out twice on me, and slightly scuffed up the surrounding interior plastics (doh!).

Has anyone here successfully removed scratches on their interior plastics somehow? A very fine sandpaper maybe? Meguiars plastic polish worth a shot?

Any inputs appreciated on how to remove large, and or fine scratches... thanks.

- Louis

I would like to know as well. Have some nasty scratches on the gauge cluster trim and bottom of shiftboot where the black plastic is.

I've heard of the repair being done before... sometimes losing a bit of the "texture", but that's ok... I just need to touch up a couple spots...

Anyone?

If you can feel the scratches with your fingernail, no buffing will remove the scratch. It can help reduce its visibility though.

I often buff interior plastics with 3M Plastic Polish. If the scratches are really bad, I will use it with a dremel rotary tool, it works quite well.

So are you saying the 3M plastic polish on a Dremel applier will remove "bad" scratches that you can feel with your finger nail?

Louis,

Just buy a new panel already

Seriously, that is the only way you are going to be happy with the results. Trust me, I think I know you well enough to know this.

Kenji, you're right on two of the pieces that are scratched (I'm buying new panels)... but... a part of the actual DASH has a few light ones too, which I need to remove the best way possible (without replacing the whole thing ) hehe...

No, unfortunetly it won't. It will do a better job of reducing the visibility though. The dremel is better for a heavily scratched area, in the sense that their are alot of small scratches.

I'd sand it progressively.

Start with like a 1000 and end with a 3000 or something like that.
