interchangeable main relays?
Does anyone know if the main relay from a 96 civic dx will work on a 2000 civic dx? The plug ins are both the same, but the size and color of the whole box is completely different. I tried it on already, and all it does is click when the ignition is turned at #2 position. There is no " honda usual" dinging at the #2 position, and the fuel pump does not "buzz." It has to be the main relay right? And does it matter the year difference on the relays?
I just did an auto to manual swap on the 2000 dx hatchback from a running 1996 civic dx donor. Tranferred everything completely, wiring harness straight to manual ecu.
But the hatch had not been running for nearly two years, which is why i figured the main relay went bad. Sitting out in the sun for that long.

i even put the working fuel pump from the 96 into the hatch just in case. still no bueno. hope its not my wiring at the shifter from the auto to manual conversion. All i did was cut the 14 plug off connect the 2 fat black wires to the clutch pedal, the black wire connects to the dark green with white stripe wire, to put it in park, right? all the other wires are left alone?
